Who serves on the Soil and Water Conservation District Board? Are they paid? Orange County voters elect five Supervisors. They serve on the Board without compensation.
How are they chosen? Supervisors are chosen in a nonpartisan election every four years. Supervisors for Groups 2 and 4 will be chosen on November 2, 2010. Supervisors for Groups 1, 3, and 5 will be chosen in 2 years. All elected supervisors serve countywide.
When can I vote in the upcoming election for Soil and Water Conservation Supervisors? The election is Tuesday, November 2, 2010. To find your precinct, go to http://www.ocfelections.com/TelePhone/TeleForm.asp. Check your sample ballot for the nearest early-vote location.
Where is the Soil and Water Conservation District race on the ballot? Look for Soil and Water Conservation Districts on the back of the first page of your ballot - following County Commission, School Board and County Judge races.
When are the Orange County meetings held? Meetings are currently held at 4 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month in the Board of County Commission Chambers.
What if I can’t attend the meetings? Orange TV airs meetings live on cable and repeats them throughout the month.
Do other places have Soil and Water Conservation Groups? Today, all 50 states, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have passed Legislation establishing the creation of about 3,000 local districts. There are 63 districts in Florida. | ||||||||||
